Employer Assisted Programmes - providing professional counselling sessions for staff members

Mental health problems in the workplace cost the economy approximately £70 billion annually in the UK and 91 million workdays are lost due to symptoms of mental illness.

Looking after the mental health of your workforce obviously makes for good business, not only in terms of building a sense of belonging and well-being and a commitment to an employer that cares, but also in terms of productivity.  Studies have shown that by addressing well-being at work increases productivity by as much as 12%.

Awareness of mental health is increasing, but we still face a world where people with mental health problems face discrimination. Many people who experience distress try to keep their feelings hidden because they are afraid of other people's responses.

Fear of discrimination and feelings of shame are among the top reasons people give for not telling their colleagues about their mental health problems.

The first port of call in the Health Service will be the GP (over a third of visits to GPs are about mental health).

We can provide a professional service to provide counselling for your employees, where staff can access trained counsellors in a confidential manner.  This can be hugely reassuring to staff, as it means they can talk to a third party in strict confidence, either at our counselling rooms in Hitchin, or by telephone.

Tilehouse Counselling and all of our counsellors are accredited by the BACP to ensure that high standards of professionalism are maintained, and all are bound to a code of conduct.

Your organisation can agree with us how many counselling sessions you would be able to fund or subsidise, and a contract detailing the arrangements and expectations from both sides agreed on.

What previous clients have said:

"Counselling helped me gain confidence in myself, without it I don't think I would have felt worthy enough to stay in my job."

"The sessions helped me through a very difficult time and being able to talk to someone in confidence allowed me to carry on with my responsibilities at work without it all becoming too much."

"I would have been off sick for longer without the help and support of my counsellor."

"My counselling sessions helped me get on better with my family and colleagues."

We would be delighted to arrange an initial discussion to explain how the scheme would work for your organisation and be of benefit for your staff.  Please visit our contact page to get in touch.
